Tortle Midliner

The Tortle Midliner allows you to position and hold small babies (﹤1500 g) in a variety of neutral positions, revolutionizing the way sick infants can be cared for. The device requires less manipulation than most devices currently on the market while eliminating the need for adjustments that are disruptive to a premature or ill baby. 

As a versatile medical device, the Tortle Midliner is compatible with the medical devices and procedures within a NICU, allowing hospital staff members to easily perform necessary practices with maximum accessibility and minimal interruption to the patient. With the Tortle Midliner, micro-preemies can be managed in the neutral position required in IVH protocols during the first three-plus days of life. 

Product Details

Adjustable, soft beanie designed with two support rolls made of polyurethane foam.

Single layer construction for high breathability and a secure fit. 

95% cotton / 5% lycra and lined with PU foam—a high-grade medical fabric (backed with research demonstrating safety even with the micro-preemie skin) that is velcro receptive.

Highly compatible with standard NICU devices including all brands and styles of nCPAP, nasal cannulas (no facial tape needed), feeding tubes, and more. 

Non-toxic tested material.

Hand wash in cool water. (Can use baby bath and baby soap.) Air dry.

The Tortle Midliner is used for the smallest premature babies to infants up to 2.5 Kg.

Tortle offers a comprehensive line of respiratory attachments and accessories that assist medical staff in the complex care of sick infants. Accessories include innovative BiliBans (eye shades), comfortable chin straps and ear muffs (reduces sound by 25dB), and body support rolls. Aviator BiliBans (Eye Shades)

Promotes correct positioning and optimal protection of the baby's retina from phototherapy and bright lights, avoiding developmental problems with the visual and auditory systems.

Attractive new quick release style of eyeshades.

No back-strap or skin adhesives needed.

The Aviator or blank style BiliBans are available in three sizes: ELBW, MP, and P.

Chin Strap (Small, Large)

Attaches directly to the Tortle Midliner, so there’s no need to apply tape to an infant's face.

Remains securely in place.

Made of the same fabric as Midliner (soft nylon fabric with foam blend lining).

Used when an infant is receiving positive pressure respiratory support.

Respiratory Attachments

Includes the Toploader, “Goalpost nCPAP keys,” “nasal cannula keys,” and some manufacturer-specific side straps for securing midline-style nasal CPAP.

Velcro attachments included in Midliner packs.

Other attachments sold separately in cases of 10.

The Tortle Midliner MAX allows hospital staff to position a baby’s head in midline, partial side lying, side lying, and prone positions. The device is infinitely adjustable, easy to apply on the head, and designed for optimum compatibility with respiratory devices, cannulas, feeding tubes, BiliBans (eye shades), and chin straps.

Appropriate for infants whose head circumference is greater than 36 cm.
