The safe, soft, snug, adorably functional, and FDA-Cleared Tortle Air now comes in an all-NEW design — meet your Tortle Air - Turtle Trot!

The NEW Tortle Air - Turtle Trot cozy right up to your baby’s head, with the most advanced positioning aid for the management and prevention of Flat Head Syndrome as your baby grows. The Tortle Air is especially beneficial for infants who already have Flat Head Syndrome as there is a front opening, making it easier to place correctly on your baby’s head. Silicon dots on the inside facing prevent slippage, giving your baby the best results with close-fitting comfort.

The silicon is similar to those found on your favorite yoga or athletic gear, and though they may leave small marks on your baby’s skin this is normal and completely temporary. By actively deflecting your baby's head to different areas while they’re lying down on a flat surface, the Tortle Air gently re-shapes their head, preventing and correcting Flat Head Syndrome.

  • Prevents & corrects Flat Head Syndrome, & associated issues.
  • Can be adjusted as your baby’s head grows.
  • Larger contoured roll — positioned on flat spot allows the baby’s head to reshape.
  • Side tabs — adjust size for correct fit.
  • Repositioning promotes healthy neck muscles. Silicon dots help slippage — may leave an initial imprint but does disappear.
  • Designed by an experienced parent, published author, and pediatrician.
  • Next-generation, single-layer construction.
  • 95% cotton, 5% Lycra, & PU foam.

Trot This Down!

It is most helpful if your baby wears their Tortle Air to reposition whenever their head is placed against a firm surface like a car seat, stroller, bouncer, or crib to avoid flat head spots or head preference. The Tortle Air is not needed when you are holding or exercising your baby, OR overnight when you are sleeping. Baby can’t do therapy all the time!

Always keep your baby in direct line of sight while using the Tortle—it's fine to move around the room as long as you can see them. Avoid leaving them unattended or relying on camera monitors, which could freeze or malfunction at critical moments.

Babies don’t come with instructions, but the Tortle Air - Turtle Trot does!

Usage Instructions: Clear Steps for Success

Using the Tortle Air - Turtle Trot or Tortle Air - Lucky Elephant is straightforward and safe when followed as directed. It's intended for supervised awake time on firm surfaces like cribs or car seats. Always consult your pediatrician.

How to Correct Brachycephaly

  • Brachycephaly occurs when a baby spends too much time flat on their heads, causing the back of the head to uniformly flatten as well as a variety of other cranial asymmetries.
  • If the flat spot is at the back of the head, place the roll over that area and then allow your baby to turn their head first to one side, then the other.
  • Do this each time baby is placed on a flat surface, such as a crib, car seat, or stroller.
  • To remember which side to turn baby's head when the roll is on the back of the head, simply wear a bracelet, or hair tie, and switch it to the opposite wrist after repositioning.

How to Correct Plagiocephaly

  • Plagiocephaly is when a baby has developed a flat spot on the area between the back of their head and their ear on one side.
  • Open the front of your Tortle Air and loosen the adjustable side straps.
  • Place the Tortle Air on your baby’s head so the support roll lies over the middle of the flat spot. Be sure to pull the beanie down, at its sides, to cover most of your baby’s ears.
  • Position baby to face the less-preferred side during use.
  • With plagiocephaly, you will notice the baby looks one way most of the time. With the Tortle Air secured and the roll placed correctly over the flat spot, your baby should be looking to the other, less-favored side when laying them down in a crib or carrier, such as a car seat or stroller.

How to Correct Torticollis

  • The Tortle Air is designed to provide passive stretching of baby’s shortened, or tightened, neck muscle(s).
  • Place the support roll on the side of the tight neck muscles, not on the flat spot, about 1” behind the ear.
  • If your baby has Torticollis, it is recommended to involve your pediatric PT/OT, as the therapy is slightly more complicated and can involve eyesight imbalance.

Tortle Tips

Measuring your baby's head is straightforward with our guide. Fun fact: In the first six months, babies' heads can grow up to 6 inches, averaging roughly one inch of growth per month! Always size up if close to the next level for a comfortable fit. Download our Measuring Guide & learn more repositioning tips & techniques below!

Sizing Made Simple: Find the Perfect Fit for Your Little Trotter

Babies grow like weeds, so we've made sizing a breeze. Measure your baby's head circumference around the forehead, over the ears, and down to the nape of the neck.

Remember: If they're on the cusp, size up! The adjustable side tabs handle the rest for a custom, ear-covering hug.

Helping Heads Up to 6 Months

  • Once you see or have been told your baby has a flat spot, the earlier you treat with Tortle Air, the better the results.
  • Think of it as "The sooner you start, the sooner they finish."
  • Babies up to six months of age can experience improvements with consistent Tortle Air use.

Rest Easy at Night

  • Give your baby's neck muscles a break by removing the Tortle Air Corrective Beanie at night.
  • If they doze off while wearing it during the day, there's no need to remove your baby's Tortle.
  • The Tortle Air makes it that easy and comfortable.

ALWAYS Practice Safe Sleep

  • The Tortle Air can be used safely during your waking hours.
  • Remove the Tortle during feeding, playtime, or when you go to sleep.
